At first, the whole work is about a faun, the original Picasso drawing, small and simple lines and very childish and a bit ephemeral because it is gradually erased.

It is the story of a being that is made to be light and enjoy things, to be playful inside the forest and gradually loses all its sensory faculties and all the reason for which it exists: pleasure.

For this an ear, an eye, a nose, the mouth and all the very reason of its existence, that is pleasure, are devoured and forgotten.

Textile installation

A meticulous work done by hand, in which time is transformed into work. It’s very hard to be aware of how we use time, it’s a precious but elusive material. In this work, the minutes obsessively become geometric shapes that together form a piece, which collects all those minutes.

O arrais do mar presents a nocturnal radiography of a territory in which several simultaneous actions establish a complex relationship between the sea and the coast. The film portrays a space without center and barely monitored in which certain actions that have been displaced find their place

The installation will extend throughout the Hotel Petit Palace taking different forms. Chains with beads and amulets, language and impressions developed with cyanotype will create a journey through the space that will connect as you advance through the hotel. We will unveil a narrative that will also act as the common thread of space.

A kind of treasure hunt, as one finds or does not find the different pieces. It will be an installation that responds to space, addressing existing structures such as windows, grids, and the like that respond to a characteristic of having two visible faces within a surface, one interlaced between inside-outside, which is shielded-revealed.

Installation inspired by the fluid profiles taken by glacial ice during its melting process. The sculptures explore issues related to the idea of the glacier as an entity of almost skeletal character and the vacuum expropriated by the high temperatures that these leave after its disappearance.

People with functional diversity live with impossibility and frustration daily. I am interested in challenging normativity with something that is frustrating. I will be trying to fit into some shoes without actually ever achieving it.

Slowdancing

In Slowdancing the element of time is emphasized. How slowly can a body move so that movement can continue to be perceived as dance?

The artist Grigoria Vryttia, entangled in sculptural accessories, will participate in this performance of physical resistance, carrying the limits of her body through a continuous but extremely slow dance form. 

Through this process, she raises questions about the perception of time, pointing out that time experienced is not a constant, such as time measured with clocks and chronometers. Instead, it is subjective. The notions of subjectivity and objectivity are a subject that relates to her entire work, through various practices in a search for deeper communication with the public. 

Querida amiga…

«Querida Amiga…» is a performative and participatory proposal, where participants are given the opportunity to create a conversation space between the archetype of death and anyone who is interested in talking with it. My personal interest in producing this piece is to think about the importance of resignifying death and everything that comes with this process of letting go and understanding what this transformation consists in, especially for those of us who stay a little longer.

We constantly try to hide this phase that is part of life. "Dear Friend..." gives the opportunity to talk about this topic from a healthier, real place and in some way with a sense of humor.

As part of a project on drawing that began several years ago, this site-specificinstallation is presented, where both the materials chosen and their supports take on special relevance to address the theme of family, intimacy, skin and boundaries from another point of view.

What unites and separates us. The bonds and the connections.

The spaces of protection that we generate, where the intimate emerges and the naked, becomes our only possession.

Shibboleth

Ephemeral sound installation

Judges 12:5-6 recounts how the Gileadites detect and massacre the Ephraimites who attempt to cross the Jordan by making them pronounce the Hebrew word xibbólet ("spigot"), which in the Ephraimite dialect was pronounced sibbólet. From this episode the term "shibboleth" has come to mean a type of key word whose phonetic characteristics allow identifying whether someone belongs or not to a particular linguistic group. The installation consists of two tables. The first one presents a still life made with real and perishable foods, whose names have been used as shibboleth, in nine massacres executed in various places and historical periods. The second table contains a series of folders with documentation about each of the nine massacres in which the name of some food was used as shibboleth, at the same time it hides in its lower part some speakers that reproduce a sound piece composed of different pronunciations of these words-shibbolet.

Pantano

PANTANO is an installation resulting from the collaboration between Julia Grunberg (Madrid, 1988) and Sofía Montenegro (Madrid, 1988). "Pantano" is a raft that wanders from side to side and from outside to inside, the lines of space blur to take you deep.

In this installation, Julia’s work is merged with design and pictorial research, and Sofia’s cinematic intervention: paint layers, manipulated PVC pipes, natural sounds, transparencies, noises created with materials present here, combinations of lights and reflections that displace another landscape. In these layers, there is a feeling of being carried away by the material with which one works, with the sole aim of getting lost in observation. Both artists aim to incite the imagination to propose other possibilities of that reality: moving into a swamp.

Evidence of My Sexual Misdemeanour

Photographic installation

Although homosexuality was decriminalized during the Ottoman Empire, the expression of homosexuality within the armed forces in Turkey is considered incompatible with its values and a threat to its core strength. 

Homosexual men who wish to be exempted from compulsory military service must declare and prove their sexuality for the military deployments a series of investigations, with which they intend to determine the true sexuality of the applicant. The Minnesota Multiphase Personality Inventory (MMPI) is a test consisting of individual sentences that are answered with a yes or no. The applicant’s answers must match the identity of the gay man dictated by the military.

In ‘Evidence of My Sexual MisdemeanourI respond photographically to the individual statements of the MMPI test. Through the performance-based staging of these photographs, I express and build an identity on the gallery wall. This character who resides somewhere between reality and fiction aims to confront the imposed institutional identity of the gay man in contemporary Turkey and offer one of the multiple queer identities as an alternative.
