Aire seeks to explore the ethereal and invisible essence of the natural element that is wind. Through the transparency and delicateness of the textile, it is intended to capture the ephemeral essence of this element which, despite being invisible, manifests itself in surprising ways in its interaction with the environment. The thin and translucent threads weave an invisible texture, their support is light and ethereal.

The work is inspired by wind dance and how air interacts with its surroundings. His intricate patterns represent the invisible choreography of air, capturing its movements and flow.

The installation of the work could include suspending the textile into space, allowing it to move smoothly with real airflows. In this way, the audience’s interaction with the work would become an integral part of the artistic experience, as the viewer would witness how air directly affects the appearance and movement of the work.

Earth wants to express matter in all its essence, using literally the volcanic land of islands, resins and pigments to reach the observer and that each visitor can see what anchors them to the present moment.

This dialogue occurs thanks to the colors that form the piece and its format, helping both to immerse oneself in the here and now where the perception of the elements immerses you into oneself, so as to materialize the forms that contain the beauty of constant change, its dynamics as part of life; but at the same time, also maturity, reflection, the mother who feeds and the fertile environment that welcomes us.

This proposal starts from the superposition of images IRL (real life) vs URL (virtual resources), emphasizing the use of resources found in PNGs pages that talk about the artificial nature of a virtualized reality. Virtual resources are landscapes and simulations that are usually used to take us to another spatial reference, and seek to place the viewer in a state of naïve happiness. In search of the photographable and perfection, metaphorically we found ourselves skating on clouds. Like Sisyphus, we bring virtuality, posts, appearance, social networks. This virtuality drags us down and we fall.

But it can be said that the rock is no longer heavy, now it is light and gaseous as a cloud. So we don’t fall from the weight, we always slip when we want more. For this edition of Displaced I propose the following installation: in the hallway there is a skate ramp, a skateboard and between these two a cardboard person who has skated on clouds and has fallen leaving his head between the floor. This image of a virtual world has all the potential to be real, and the color green and blue (chroma) could be any other landscape in the future. The border of analogy and virtual questions us, since it is clear that reality is part of virtuality; however, we know that we live through the screen and the screen lives for us.

Alicia Martín

The 'Tektonika' series starts from a deep interest in the material world and its transformation processes. It speaks of a seemingly firm but constantly reconfiguring territory, where the pictorial language serves to recreate natural morphologies that refer to the deformations of the earth’s layer and its internal frictions.

Through processes that start from abstraction and combining various techniques on layers of paper, each piece encapsulates fragments of volumetric rocks with which to pose questions about a world moving at different speeds.

Society goes deeper into the Metaverse, we increasingly turn to digital spaces to escape reality, where we create parallel lives, which at times make us forget who we are. What we see through the screens seems to be more real than reality itself.

This is a site-specific installation in which there are paints in the form of circuits or chips, some of them connected to faces, bodies or objects, together with a series of distractors that stand in the way, represented by the loud sound and image of old televisions, which alludes to media and social networks, which promote and generate our expectations or dreams with their own constant noise.

Welcome Home V, is an installation made specifically for the hotel hallway. The work consists of 3 wooden structures joined with hinges and covered with modules of plywood that form patterns of 18th century wallpaper. The work is completed with two luminaires installed as a chandelier on the structure. The light is pink LED neon and each one is 5 meters long. The installation alludes to the walls of the house. Seeks to create a welcoming and friendly space that awakens new imaginaries or narratives in the audience.

The construction process of a wall is taken as reference, with the partition being the first step and the lining the last; in reality, there are more elements between them, but the installation takes these two mentioned to create a spatial play of lines and plots.

The black and white patterns contrast with the color of some of the "tiles" and pink light. This work merges elements of the past with elements of our era establishing a dialogue between history and our present.

The proposal consists of several pieces that adhere to the structure of the staircase using neodymium magnets.

The installation takes advantage of elements inherent to the environment in which it will be located, such as the notion of ascent and descent, places of passage and transit, to connect them with recurring themes in my work, addressing the boundaries of identity, transformation and permanence.

In November 2014, I received a call from my father saying that he has a small tumor in his lung. It is 3 mm in diameter and can be operated, at first nothing serious.

I’m going back to Las Palmas to be with him. Our communication hasn’t been smooth for years. Football and photography are the only points where we still understand each other. I am carrying a medium format camera and decide to document this moment. The camera will serve as an excuse for us to talk. The tumor turns out to be much larger. At one point in the process I become aware that he’s going to die and have to decide whether to continue taking pictures. My father died on January 4, 2015, two months after the call. (2) He was a pediatrician. He also had several hobbies. Fishing, football, plants, genealogy and photography. He practiced them all intensely, passionately, each in his own time. In 1997, as a guide for those who attended family lunches, he drew up a simple family tree that included parents, grandparents and great-grandparents.

The idea turned out to be a success. He was the object of an ardent desire for research, which led him to spend the next 10 years visiting parish and private archives in Gran Canaria and Lanzarote. It started out clumsy and grandiose but ended up developing a precise and very effective research method. He was even commissioned to investigate other family branches as well as his best friend’s. Some of the information he managed to gather is perfectly hidden behind his indecipherable doctor-like calligraphy.

Following these two events in V. I use photography to structure five sets of images around the ideas of the father, presence, distance, incommunication and obsessions.

Artistic research work to make visible and bring to the present women of reference in the world of arts who lived and created in the twentieth century. They were our "ancestors". An invisible thread unites us to them and their memory. They are part of our artistic genealogy.

Recovering female figures in art and culture is essential to building a more equitable and just society. Throughout history, women’s contributions to these areas have been underestimated or even ignored, leading to a gap in the representation and recognition of their talents and achievements.

Integrating female referents not only enriches the diversity of artistic expressions, it also challenges entrenched gender stereotypes. By highlighting the work of artists, writers, musicians, scientists and other creators, it breaks with the traditional idea that certain fields belong exclusively to men.

Moreover, the presence of female leaders in art and culture enables future generations to find role models that reflect the diversity of talent and creativity. This fosters self-esteem and ambition in young women, inspiring them to pursue their own passions and goals.

Ultimately, recovering female referents is not only an act of historical justice, but also an investment in building a more inclusive society, where all voices and perspectives have a legitimate and valuable place on the cultural stage. It is a reminder that art and culture are a reflection of the richness and complexity of human experience, and their enrichment depends on the full participation and representation of all identities.

The work consists of an installation with 59 photographic portraits of archival women creators, intervened with elements of nature. The women portrayed have in common having been a pioneer in their field, recognized in their time by their male peers and by the world of art and culture, however they are little known today. Some were muses or wives of relevant men, who later developed and claimed their own paths as artists. They were independent women, who lived their lives as they wished, outside the norms dictated for women of the time. They were often labeled as crazy, bad mothers, libertines, extravagant or rare and do not appear in the lists of reference artists in schools and universities. Additionally, there is another piece formed by a methacrylate urn, on a pedestal, full of photographic portraits of female referents in the art and culture of the twentieth century, which invites the public to take one referent and leave a note with another.

Interventions on the image are a constant in my work, through them I want to give archival images a new meaning, with nature as the common thread and as timeless space that remains and transcends us, connecting past and present.
