The Batec Gallery presents Emilio Cerezo and Murdo Ortiz, two artists who find a natural dialogue and affinity in painting, even though they use different languages. Murdo Ortiz explores the chaos of contemporary life through anthropological references and primitive aesthetics. His work exposes and dramatises the human condition, monsters and masks, creating scenarios where the archaic and the everyday intersect to generate strangeness and ritual tension.
Emilio Cerezo focuses on transforming this chaos into visual harmony. His pictorial language, which draws on landscape, is reduced to pure texture, colour and matter. He creates vibrant chromatic fields and rounded shapes that invite contemplation.
Both share an urgency to confront contemporary unease. Ortiz's work exposes it, while Cerezo's calms it, creating an exhibition that moves between tension and tranquillity. The show will include joint pieces by both artists and an installation piece designed especially for Hybrid Art Fair 2026.
