Hybrid Art Fair 2026 presents the second edition of the JACUZZI PERFORMANCE PROGRAMME
JACUZZI challenges the underrepresentation of performance art at art fairs with a selection of eight pieces chosen through an open call in collaboration with Juan Gómez Alemán from La Juan Gallery. JACUZZI reflects a narrative of effervescence, of disturbance of calm and the presence of active bodies in the context of a hotel taken over by artists.

SELECTED JACUZZI - 2026
Your photo with Marina
Inspired by the “super-dolls” that roam Puerta del Sol – such as Gorillas, Mario Bros and Mickey Mouse – Sasha Falcke creates a costume with a large head featuring the face of Marina Abramović. Walking around the Hybrid fair greeting and dancing for visitors, Falcke takes on the role of these street characters to launch a scathing critique: today, the artist's name and surname seem to matter more than the work itself. Her action highlights an art market that behaves like a child in front of their favourite character, eagerly chasing photos and autographs.

Repeat a corner
“Repetir una esquina” is an unprecedented, site-specific action that activates a corner of the hotel's layout as a spatial score. The artist delimits a minimal geometry that governs a rhythmic sequence of tasks, guided by brief verbal instructions reproduced by a random voice system and by the logic of the delimited space. Little by little, the actions overlap, producing delays, contradictions and doubts, generating a logical gap where error and memory transform repetition. It is a piece that dialogues with postmodern choreography and spatial notation—in particular with research initiated by Trisha Brown—from a contemporary perspective.

Las MYNYMYNY
The MYNYMYNY (Alba Tesías, Julia Ballesteros and Alba Cavero) pass through space trying not to be seen. But their interest in gossiping, their fascination with art, and their ostentatious costumes will make this task impossible. The Clown have never been so elegant, never had such refined style, and never been, or tried to be, so silent.

MACHINE TENDENCY The machine/The tendency/The prelude: “This body was supposed to be mine”
‘This body was supposed to be mine.’ Under this slogan and premise, Saúl Olarte and Juan Jiménez have designed a device that highlights the system of horizontal violence in which we feel immersed. A simple treadmill activated by the audience attending the performance, one body activating another and forcing it to dance. Faced with the observation of a greater power and the incessant music of the cyborg DJ, we ask ourselves... Who is to blame for so much pain? How easily can the game turn into horror? Will empathy or sadism win out? How long will this body endure before collapsing at the party of the world?

Emotional transactions
Las speed dates are a clear example of rapid consumption and personal brand optimisation (key factors in today's society), as they transfer the dynamics of the free market to our sexual and emotional experiences, commodifying identity. In this performance, each spectator chooses a performer for a five-minute date where the performer adopts an attitude of absolute complacency, nullifying their identity to become the ‘perfect product’ tailored to the customer.
Through this exaggeratedly artificial conversation, the action seeks to generate distancing and rejection in the interlocutor. By identifying the artist's compulsive need to present a compatible profile, the viewer is confronted with the harsh commodification of identity and the loss of authenticity in contemporary encounters.

FREE PERFORMANCES INSIDE
An artist walks down the aisle with his head hidden inside a giant paper envelope. On the outside, the envelope reads “FREE PERFORMANCES INSIDE”. Occasionally, the artist reveals his face to engage with the audience and invite them to look inside the envelope, where images and timelines provide a simplified representation of the history of performance art.
Through this portable archive, the artist pays tribute to the historical references that have shaped his current practice.

Hotel NPC
Using the figure of the Non-Player Character (NPC) from video games as a conceptual tool, the artist adopts and sustains planking in a state of permanent waiting. Since activation never occurs, the character occupies unusual positions, such as staring at the floor or standing in front of a wall, sometimes only partially visible. It does not speak or possess its own agency: it is limited to stillness, reinforcing its condition of passive and programmed presence.

Lavatio
“Lavatio” is a queer ritual. An invitation to the process of constructing and maintaining dissident identity. Using wigs as the main element and symbol, washing, combing and drying them, Bambi aims to highlight the invisible structural work involved in living in society when you live outside the norm.
