Art Olympism – Sugar × Power × Workout

Lo Yi-Chun
Artist Lo Yi-Chun works with sugarcane fibre to mould and manufacture gymnastic apparatus, exploring the connection between work in the sugar industry and contemporary fitness culture. The work reveals the dual nature of sugar: on the one hand, a sensual pleasure; on the other, a commodity historically linked to trade, war and colonialism. During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to experience these unique gym equipment first-hand, appreciating both their historical dimension and their artistic value. By showing the interconnection between physical movement and the history of the sugar industry, the proposal offers a new perspective for understanding the impact of globalisation on everyday life and local culture, highlighting the link between history and contemporary experience.

Desllegar (Música háptica nº 1)

It is a sound installation that proposes a listening experience set and corporeal on the hotel staircase. The work begins in the skin. Each section activates a tactile listening through the wooden handrail, while a second audible layer moves in space, disorienting any stable direction. Both layers articulate an exercise that involves the body and the ear and invites the visitor to build their own experience based on their movements. The ladder, usually conceived as a place of passage, is transformed into a delay device in which ascending and descending are no longer opposite actions but overlap physically and symbolically. To escape is to persist in the conflict, to sustain the transit until you inhabit it, to last.

Elástica Fanzine - Elástica Bookshop

Elástica is a bookshop located in CCCQS that brings together more than a thousand titles on social movements, feminism, criticism, art and pedagogy. As a living space, it organises workshops and community activities. At the fair, it presents Elástica Fanzine with a selection of documents on self-publishing and experimental creation, as well as other publications that discuss art and community from different perspectives. The CCCQS is an independent space that promotes art, critical thinking and cultural mediation, presenting experimental, collaborative and community-based proposals.

Repeat a corner

Elisa Miravalles
An unprecedented, site-specific action that activates a corner of the hotel's layout as a spatial score. The artist delimits a minimal geometry that governs a rhythmic sequence of tasks, guided by brief verbal instructions reproduced by a random voice system and by the logic of the delimited space. Little by little, the actions overlap, producing delays, contradictions and doubts, generating a logical gap where error and memory transform repetition. It is a piece that dialogues with postmodern choreography and spatial notation—in particular with research initiated by Trisha Brown—from a contemporary perspective.

Platten Social

In Platten Social we believe in the transformative power of music. Young people with disabilities take the booth to put into practice what they have learned in our DJ classes, sharing talent, illusion and improvement. A space to celebrate inclusion, break barriers and live culture from diversity.

Origami Exhibition

Pedro Núñez 
Using different paper formats, Núñez explores their possibilities through folding, generating volumes and shapes, creating works that are grouped into open series in sustained and constant development. The artist shows us his procedures live. It seems like magic, but it is only art, the art of folding and unfolding.

"Exceptionality in art: The economic reality of visual artists."

The visual arts sector in Spain lacks real, verified knowledge about its own structure: there is no reliable data on the number of professionals, working conditions, taxation or the market. The vagueness of the concept of "professional artist" and structural precariousness make it difficult to include them in the legal and economic frameworks applicable to other self-employed workers. The art market, which is deeply opaque and poorly regulated, makes it impossible to measure its real impact and leaves most creators outside institutional and commercial circuits. Although official censuses speak of some 24,000 artists, the real figure is much higher, but only a minority manage to make a living from their work. The discontinuity of activity, the lack of labour rights, the absence of specific public policies and poor practices in the sector consolidate a scenario of vulnerability that requires urgent reforms and an Artist's Statute that is truly adapted to reality.

Oxys of the soul

Oxys of the soul opens up. A poetic action that proposes to approach the soul of the Oxys project through words and voice. The artists who make up the project activate the space through a choral reading, where poetry becomes the thread that ties together a complete sensory experience.
The action invites visitors to experience the exhibition through listening and emotion, guiding them towards the core of the project: that which unites them, that which sustains the work beyond the visible.

Expanding artistic careers: visibility, collaboration and new professional balances

An open conversation about how artists today build their careers in an increasingly hybrid context. The discussion will address the coexistence of relationships with galleries and other strategies for visibility and professional sustainability, such as collaborations with brands, cross-disciplinary projects, and the conscious use of communication tools. A space to reflect on new models of artistic careers that are more flexible and adapted to changes in today's cultural ecosystem.

«This body was supposed to be mine»Under this slogan and premise, Saúl Olarte and Juan Jiménez have designed a device that highlights the system of horizontal violence in which we feel immersed. A simple treadmill activated by the audience attending the performance, one body activating another and forcing it to dance. Faced with the observation of a greater power and the incessant music of the cyborg DJ, we ask ourselves... Who is to blame for so much pain? How easily can the game turn into horror? Will empathy or sadism win out? How long will this body endure before collapsing at the party of the world?

Queer aesthetics and their impact on contemporary visual culture

What is queer in today’s art? In this talk, the analysis of different manifestations linked to artistic and visual expressions of LGBTBIQ+ communities will be carried out. Through them, discussions will be held that involve the importance of aesthetic and identity phenomena among contemporary cultural dialogues, and the importance of establishing historical and critical paradigms tailored to approaches related to gender dissent and sexual identity.

AMAGATS proposes a commentary on the creative process understood as a form of artistic research and as a work in itself. The activity is based on process pieces—drawings, tests, studies, and experiments—by Idoia Montón, Jo Milne, Charo Gálvez, and Manuel Aramendia. The reading proposes two lines of research present in their practices: the process as a material, bodily, and structural experience, and the process as a space for thought, perception, and imagination.

Sasha Falcke

Inspired by the 'super-dolls' that roam Puerta del Sol – such as Gorillas, Mario Bros and Mickey Mouse – Sasha Falcke creates a costume with a large head featuring the face of Marina Abramović. Walking around the Hybrid fair greeting and dancing for visitors, Falcke takes on the role of these street characters to launch a scathing critique: today, the artist's name and surname seem to matter more than the work itself. Her action highlights an art market that behaves like a child in front of their favourite character, eagerly chasing photos and autographs.

Angella Conte

The hotel's windows are transformed into a large urban aquarium visible from the street. The façade functions as a poetic device for contemplation and interaction with the urban space.

Marta Valverde

Marta develops her work in the gaps. She draws on autobiography to address issues such as precariousness, violence, work and the problem of representation from a feminist perspective. She plays with film imagery through live cinema and documentary, always seduced by hybridisation and impure forms.
